Adding a therapy animal to counseling can improve motivation and engagment in therapy, which ultimately leads to more success in a shorter time. Animals provide a sense of security and emotional support to the client. Therapy pets promote relaxation and offer unconditional acceptance. They can also be an instrument for learning which increases self -esteem and self-confidence.
